Brock DeSmit has been employed at Belzberg Architects since 2004. His contributions to the firm span a variety of project types including institutional, commercial and hillside residential. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture in 2003 from the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) and his Master of Architecture in 2006 from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). He’s served as a guest juror for the University of Southern California studios of Andrew Atwood and Hagy Belzberg as well as Ronit Eisenbach’s studio at the University of Detroit Mercy. In 2012, he was associate editor of Forward 212: Identity (A.I.A. Quarterly Journal) and in 2009, he co-authored with David Cheung the article “Deep Surface” for Forward 210: Ornament (A.I.A. Quarterly Journal). Furthermore, he was a Member of the City of Hamtramck Downtown Development Authority from 1999-2000.
